Home Groups
Over 50 time in the New Testament, the words 'one another' are used in reference to Christians and the way we are to interact. We are to love one another, encourage one another, serve one another, rebuke one another, restore one another, prefer one another, be devoted to one another, etc. This is the primary purposes of our Home Groups at PBC.
The early followers of Jesus understood the need to gather as a church in small groups for support, encouragement, and training for ministry. These groups, meeting in homes, offered a place to form genuine relationships, they provided easy entry places for new believers, and also a non-threatening environment for those who were seeking to know more about Jesus and his church.
At PBC, we try to model our Home Groups after the example shown in Acts 2:42-47. Our purposes are:
To grow in relationship with one another. Home Groups offer a safe opportunity to form strong, lasting friendships. They help us to be open with one another, share honestly with one another, encourage one another, and learn to trust one another.
To grow in our relationship with God. Home Groups provide an effective place to learn about who God is and how to grow in our realtionship with Him. Seeking Jesus in a Home Group also gives us the opportunity to learn from others and how they have learned to relate to Him.
