Nativity 2009
Pitlochry Street Nativity Play
The first ever Street Nativity Play in Pitlochry took place on the Saturday before Christmas 2008.
It was a modern day version of the Bible story and the scene was set in the Baptist Church when the angel appeared to Mary as she was cleaning the church. Joseph appeared off the bus from Kinloch Rannoch with the news that an angel had spoken to him, too. Their journey to Bethlehem from Nazareth was depicted by the walk up the hill to the Church of Scotland (accompanied by the 200 or so people who attended the event) where they looked for somewhere to stay (Mary and Joseph, not the audience!), and the baby Jesus was born.
The event was organised by Churches Working Together in Atholl and the evening wound up with some wonderful eats in the Tryst and a great time of fellowship.
The nativity play this year - 'A Child is Born' starts at 5pm at the Baptist Church on Sat 19th December finishing with refreshments at the Church of Scotland at 6pm. Community Carol singing en route. All welcome.
No charge, no tickets, wear warm clothes and BRING A TORCH.
